Self Help Books

Do you enjoy reading self help books?

I was first introduced to self help books through my random Google search during my internship. I was just fresh out from college, and I was aimless, clueless with what life has to offer (btw, that was like 7 years 3 months ago as I write). In fact, I remembered stressing out on which career path I wanted to choose. Despite graduated with a Finance degree, I was never really interested in Finance apart from Personal Finance. Coincidentally, I did my internship in a Wealth Management company!

Oh speaking of self help books, I think the first book that I read was written by Adam Khoo, a Singaporean self made millionaire. It was a downloadable PDF with some workbooks. Reading the self help, and doing the workbooks within was surprisingly therapeutical! Adam Khoo introduced me to Anthony Robbins, and the rest is history.

What I do enjoy about self help books are mainly it teaches you that you can be great, you can do great things, and achieve greatness in life. It provides some frameworks and methodologies for you to achieve success. There are many 'self help' gurus in the market and sometimes I get overwhelmed with so many different views. In fact, after reading the self help, I find some of the exercises have similarity with the Law of Attractions activities!

Some self help teaches you on 'quick fixes' whereas others help you to reflect within and look into areas that you can improve yourself. I believe 'quick fixes' are temporarily and at the end of the day, it would not give you the feeling of security and progression. Hence, I highly recommended you to go for those that teaches you to delve within and reprogramme your life.

Also, it is very recommended that you reread the self help that is impactful to your life. This will either reinforce what you have learned, or bring you new perspectives of how to improve areas in your life, as we experiences life deeper as we grow!
